According to Joe Vardon and Sam Amick of The Athletic, Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton‘s contract is worth approximately $245 million if he makes one of the league’s three All-NBA teams this season.
Haliburton’s contract would be worth $204.5 million if he doesn’t make an All-NBA team this season.
Haliburton would be ineligible for postseason awards if he doesn’t meet the 65-game threshold. The two-time All-Star is currently on track to play 69 games this season if he doesn’t miss any more contests.
“It’s no secret what’s at stake for me personally this year, and for us a group,” Haliburton told The Athletic. “So I feel like I’m looking to help lead this group. And if I’m playing like this and we’re still winning, I don’t care. It doesn’t bother me. I’ll get over it because obviously I’m doing enough to help us win. But when we’re not winning and I’m doing this, then that’s when it can really get to me.”
Haliburton is averaging 20.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 11.2 assists this season while shooting 47.9% from the field, 36.7% from beyond the arc and 85.7% from the free-throw line. He leads the NBA in assists and assists per game.
The Pacers are 41-32 on the season. They are in sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
“I’ve been going nonstop since the summer, right? USA, In-Season Tournament and all that stuff has been going on,” Haliburton said. “But s—, the way I look at it, and I talk about it all the time, is like, ‘Look, I’m 24. I’m built for it.’ It doesn’t bother me. I don’t really think about rest. Some people have been calling me (saying), ‘Hey, maybe you should sit a game.’ I’m like, ‘What is (that) going to do? You know what I mean? I don’t want to do that. I want to compete, and I want to play as much as I can, so I don’t really care for anything like that. Go, go, go is just the world that I live in now, and I’m ready for that.”
