On his podcast, Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George said that Derrick Rose is the best rookie he’s seen enter the NBA.
The Chicago Bulls drafted Rose with the first overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft.
Rose appeared in 81 games during his rookie season. He averaged 16.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 6.3 assists while shooting 47.5% from the field, 22.2% from beyond the arc and 78.8% from the free-throw line.
Rose won the Rookie of the Year Award and guided the Bulls to the playoffs.
In his first career postseason game against the Boston Celtics, Rose put up 36 points and 11 assists and led the Bulls to an upset win over the Celtics. Even though Boston beat Chicago in seven games, everyone in the NBA knew Rose would soon be a superstar.
Rose averaged 20.8 points and 6.0 assists in his second season. He became the first Bulls player since Michael Jordan to make an All-Star team.
In 2010-11, Rose made NBA history. He won the MVP Award, becoming the youngest MVP of all time. Rose averaged 25.0 points and 7.7 assists. The Bulls had the best record in the NBA and defeated George and the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the 2011 playoffs.
Rose averaged 21.8 points and 7.9 assists in 2011-12. That season was the last time he made an All-Star team, as Rose tore his left ACL in Game 1 of the 2012 playoffs against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Rose missed the entire 2012-13 season. He returned in 2013-14 but only played in 10 games before tearing his right meniscus.
A Memphis product, Rose has undergone eight total surgeries on his body. The Chicago native has played for the Bulls, New York Knicks (twice), Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons and Memphis Grizzlies.
Rose has career averages of 17.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists. He has made three All-Star teams and one All-NBA team.
Rose averaged 8.0 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists this season for the Grizzlies while shooting 46.1% from the field, 36.6% from beyond the arc and 88.9% from the free-throw line. He played in just 24 games.
