Suns Predicted To Trade Kevin Durant Back To Warriors This Offseason

The Phoenix Suns have been predicted to trade Kevin Durant back to the Golden State Warriors this offseason.

Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report predicts that the Suns will send Durant to the Warriors in a sign-and-trade deal involving Jonathan Kuminga

“As great as Durant is, he’ll be 37 before next season tips and doesn’t have the cleanest injury history. It’ll take a specific kind of suitor to want what he brings, afford him in a trade and also believe it will have enough left over to contend for a title with him already next season,” Buckley wrote. “The Warriors potentially check all of those boxes—assuming, of course, the Suns would be interested in their draft picks, pick swaps, young players (like Moses Moody or Brandin Podziemski) and a Kuminga sign-and-trade.

“That’s a big assumption for now, but our crystal ball thinks that’s the best Phoenix can do in a Durant deal and also believes the 15-time All-Star will come around to the realization that he won’t find a better hoops home than his previous digs.”

Durant played for the Warriors from 2016-17 to 2018-19. He won two championships and two Finals MVPs.

A future Hall of Famer, Durant left Golden State in the summer of 2019 for the Brooklyn Nets. He hasn’t gotten back to the conference finals since leaving the Warriors.

Golden State tried to acquire Durant from Phoenix in February, but Durant told people behind closed doors that he didn’t want to get traded in the middle of the season.

It was a mistake, as the Suns missed the playoffs this year, while the Warriors reached the conference semifinals.

Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from 3 and 83.9% from the free-throw line. He has one year left on his contract.

One of the greatest players in NBA history, Durant has career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Warriors, Nets and Suns. He’s a two-time champion, a two-time Finals MVP, a one-time MVP and a four-time scoring champion.

Golden State would have a “Big 4” of Durant, Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green if Buckley’s prediction comes to fruition.
