NBA analyst Ishaan Bhattacharya of Fadeaway World saw Young’s tweet and proposed the following mock trade between the Lakers and Hawks:
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: Bogdan Bogdanovic, Clint Capela
Atlanta Hawks Receive: Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, 2025 Second-Round Pick (LAL), 2027 Second-Round Pick (LAL)
Bogdanovic averaged 16.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.3 blocks for the Hawks in 2023-24 while shooting 42.8% from the field, 37.4% from beyond the arc and 92.1% from the free-throw line. He will make $17.3 million next season.
New Lakers head coach JJ Redick said on Sirus XM NBA Radio that LA is looking to add a center. Capela averaged 11.5 points, 10.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.5 blocks in 2023-24 for the Hawks while shooting 57.1% from the field and 63.1% from the free-throw line. The Lakers went 47-35 in 2023-24. They lost to the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs in five games.
Denver also beat LA in the 2023 Western Conference Finals in four games.
The Lakers could start D’Angelo Russell, Bogdanovic, LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Capela if Rob Pelinka acquired Bogdanovic and Capela from Atlanta.
