One NBA analyst proposed a three-team trade between the Golden State Warriors, New Orleans Pelicans and Portland Trail Blazers.
Fran Leiva of Fadeaway World proposed the following mock trade between the Warriors, Pelicans and Blazers:
Warriors receive: Brandon Ingram
Pelicans receive: Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara
Blazers receive: Andrew Wiggins, Gary Payton II, 2026 first-round pick (Warriors)
The Pelicans are open to trading Ingram, who is in the final year of his contract. Ingram averaged 20.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.6 blocks in 2023-24 while shooting 49.2% from the field, 35.5% from beyond the arc and 80.1% from the free-throw line.
Wiggins averaged 13.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.6 assists and 0.6 blocks in 2023-24 for the Warriors while shooting 45.3% from the field, 35.8% from beyond the arc and 75.1% from the free-throw line. The Warriors are open to trading Wiggins.
Finally, Ayton averaged 16.7 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.8 blocks for the Blazers in 2023-24 while shooting 57.0% from the field and 82.3% from the foul line. The big man had 32 double-doubles.
The Blazers and Warriors missed the playoffs in 2024, while the Pelicans were swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round.
Ingram will make $36 million next season, Wiggins will make $26.3 million and Ayton will make $34 million.
A one-time All-Star, Ingram has career averages of 19.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.6 blocks with the Los Angeles Lakers and Pelicans.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Ingram’s camp is looking for teams who will pay the wing $210 million.
“Ingram, with one All-Star appearance on his resume like Lauri Markkanen, has only one season left on his current contract and is said to be seeking a four-year contract extension worth nearly $210 million,” Stein wrote. “The Pelicans have made it clear that they won’t go to those lengths to re-sign him and, while various teams have explored Ingram trades since the offseason began in earnest, no other team willing to sign the 26-year-old at those numbers has yet emerged … with league sources saying that Ingram’s camp has also joined the efforts to find one.”
Wiggins, who won the 2022 NBA title with Golden State, has career averages of 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.7 blocks with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Warriors.
Finally, Ayton has career averages of 16.7 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.0 blocks with the Phoenix Suns and Blazers.
