An anonymous former NBA player had some interesting things to say about Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green while talking with Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area.
Poole says the former NBA player is now an analyst.
“I hate Draymond’s game,” the player said. “Hate his game. But his IQ makes him a Hall of Famer. It’s through the roof. And that team needs it.”
The Warriors won four championships in the Stephen Curry-Draymond Green-Klay Thompson era. Thompson left Golden State last offseason for the Dallas Mavericks.
Green will make the Hall of Fame one day despite not being a double-digit scorer. The swingman enters next season with career averages of 8.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks. He has made four All-Star teams, two All-NBA teams and nine All-Defensive teams.
The 35-year-old Green won the 2017 Defensive Player of the Year Award. He has 33 triple-doubles in his career and helped the Warriors go 73-9 in 2015-16. Golden State broke the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls record of 72 wins.
Green is a career 44.9% shooter from the field, 32.0% shooter from beyond the arc and 71.0% shooter from the free-throw line. It’s not his offensive skills, though, that are going to get him into the Hall of Fame. It’s his defensive and offensive versatility and high IQ of the game.
Green filled up the stat sheet again last season for the Warriors, who lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round of the 2025 playoffs in five games. The Michigan native averaged 9.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks in 68 games.
Golden State hasn’t made any moves this offseason because of Jonathan Kuminga‘s restricted free agency. Al Horford, De’Anthony Melton and Gary Payton II are expected to sign with the Warriors once Kuminga signs a deal, according to NBA insider Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
