NBA insider Zach Lowe of ESPN expects the Golden State Warriors to try to acquire LeBron James again this summer.
LeBron can become an unrestricted free agent this offseason if he declines his 2024-25 player option with the Los Angeles Lakers worth $51.4 million.

According to NBA insiders Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne of ESPN, the Warriors called the Lakers and attempted to acquire LeBron at this year’s trade deadline. However, neither the Lakers nor LeBron were interested in a Warriors trade happening.
LeBron and Warriors forward Draymond Green have the same agent (Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group) and are very close friends. Golden State star Stephen Curry and LeBron have also developed a relationship over the years after being heated rivals during LeBron’s second stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2014-15 to 2017-18.
Curry and LeBron have played each other in four NBA Finals, with Curry going 3-1. LeBron guided the Cavaliers to the 2016 championship with the help of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. Cleveland became the first team in NBA history to erase a 3-1 series deficit in the Finals.
If LeBron becomes a free agent this offseason, the Warriors can sign The King outright. However, if The Akron Hammer picks up his player option, Golden State would have to give up players and picks to acquire him.
LeBron, 39, is averaging 24.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 7.8 assists this season while shooting 52.0% from the field, 39.5% from beyond the arc and 74.1% from the free-throw line. Despite being the oldest player in the NBA, The Chosen One is still an elite force.
The Lakers and Warriors are ninth and 10th, respectively, in the Western Conference standings. Both clubs have had disappointing seasons.
If Curry and LeBron became teammates on the Warriors, the rest of the NBA would be in serious trouble. The two legends would likely win at least one title together.
