The Philadelphia 76ers have signed NBA free agent David Roddy to a two-way contract, the team announced in a press release.
Roddy, a 6-foot-4 power forward, had previously signed a 10-day contract with the team on February 11. During his brief stint with the Sixers, he appeared in one game, contributing four points, five rebounds, and two assists in 13 minutes of action in Philadelphia’s loss to the Boston Celtics.
Roddy’s signing fills the two-way slot that became available when the Sixers promoted Jared Butler to the 15-man roster last week. The 23-year-old player’s journey to Philadelphia has been marked by several team changes since being selected by the 76ers with the 23rd overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. But he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies on draft night.
Most recently, Roddy began the season with the Atlanta Hawks before being waived in a trade deadline deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. Prior to his release, he played in 27 games for the Hawks, averaging 4.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in just under 13 minutes per game.
Roddy’s move to the Sixers adds depth to their roster, with the team also expected to finalize a two-way contract with Alex Reese. Jeff Dowtin currently holds the other two-way slot with Philadelphia.
Once Reese’s contract is confirmed, the 76ers will have a complete roster heading into the stretch run of the season.
