Sixers sign Marcus Bagley, brother of Marvin, to 10-day deal

The 76ers have signed free agent forward Marcus Bagley to a 10-day contract, the team announced in a press release.Marcus Bagley, 76ers, Sixers, NBA

Bagley, 23, went undrafted in 2023 following three injury-plagued seasons at Arizona State. He has remained with the 76ers organization since then, first participating in the team’s Summer League squad and spending the past two seasons with the Delaware Blue Coats, Philadelphia’s G League affiliate.

After a challenging start to his professional career in 2023-24, Bagley’s production has improved in the current season. He is averaging 11.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 18 games (29.3 minutes per contest) in the G League. His shooting line for the season stands at .436/.320/.759.

Although the 76ers have a full 15-man roster, they are permitted to add extra players under the hardship exception due to injuries. With Chuma Okeke currently on his second 10-day contract, which expires on March 25, it’s possible Philadelphia has been granted a second hardship exception or decided to conclude Okeke’s contract early.

Bagley will earn $66,503 during his 10-day stint with the team, with an identical cap hit on Philadelphia’s books. He will be eligible to appear in up to five games for the Sixers. Bagley, whose older brother Marvin plays for the Memphis Grizzlies, will look to make his mark with his first standard NBA contract.
