Sixers To Sign Reggie Jackson After Buyout With Hornets

The Philadelphia 76ers intend to sign point guard Reggie Jackson after he clears waivers via the Charlotte Hornets, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.Reggie Jackson, Nuggets, NBA, 76ers

Jackson, 34, was traded by the Denver Nuggets to the Hornets in July and will join a loaded cast of newcomers in Philadelphia that includes All-Star forward Paul George. Forward Caleb Martin, center Andre Drummond and guard Eric Gordon are the other veteran additions to All-Star center Joel Embiid and guard Tyrese Maxey.

Jackson picked up the $5.25 million option on his contract in July, prompting the Nuggets trade to Charlotte.

He appeared in all 82 games last season, averaging 10.2 points, 3.0 assists and 1.9 rebounds. He also appeared in 12 playoff games. Along with the Nuggets, Jackson has spent time with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Detroit Pistons and Los Angeles Clippers during a 13-year career.

The Sixers have yet to advance beyond the second round of the playoffs in the Embiid era. But he clearly likes the new Big Three.

“Yeah, I think as far as the fit, it looks amazing,” the 76ers star told ESPN. “It is great, especially when you got a big … I don’t like to call myself a big, but when you got a player that posts up and that isos quite a bit, you need to have willing shooters and guys that are not afraid to pull the trigger. PG, great shooter, 40%, 45 catch and shoot; Tyrese, we know great shooter, off the dribble, catch-and-shoot.

“On paper, and as far as the fit, it looks fantastic because you got both guys that can play off the ball, and they can play on ball and they’re great shooters and they can handle the ball, and then you also got me. So, yeah, it looks great.”
