The Warriors are one team that may be interested in a trade for center Rudy Gobert in the event the Jazz decide to break up the roster, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst suggested on the Hoops Collective podcast.
Utah lost to the Mavericks in the first round of the playoffs and there have been lingering suspicions that the Jazz may be into making a move or two. Per Windhorst, the Jazz are more likely to move Gobert than star guard Donovan Mitchell.
On the podcast, Windhorst said “the Warriors could be a team interested in acquiring Gobert,” RealGM wrote. “(ESPN reporter) Tim MacMahon sarcastically noted that Draymond Green and Gobert have a great relationship, while Windhorst added that the Warriors have Andrew Wiggins, and his large contract, to offer in a trade.”
Gobert would definitely add a defensive presence to a team that could use an interior defensive anchor, as the Warriors stars — Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green — hit the back nine of their careers.
The Warriors do still have young center James Wiseman, who missed all of his second season with a right knee injury.
