NBA Trade Proposal Sends Lauri Markkanen, Collin Sexton, Jordan Clarkson To Heat

One NBA analyst thinks the Miami Heat should acquire Lauri Markkanen, Collin Sexton and Jordan Clarkson from the Utah Jazz this summer.

Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Heat and Jazz:

Miami Heat Receive: F Lauri Markkanen, G Collin Sexton, G Jordan Clarkson

Utah Jazz Receive: Nikola Jović, F Andrew Wiggins, G Terry Rozier, F Duncan Robinson, 2025 first-round pick (via Golden State Warriors), 2029 first-round pick (top-5 protected)

The Cleveland Cavaliers swept the Heat in the first round of the 2025 playoffs, while the Jazz had the worst record in the West.

Miami needs more talent around All-Stars Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, which is why Swartz thinks Heat president Pat Riley should trade for Markkanen, Sexton and Clarkson.

“Markkanen, 27, has averaged 23.0 points and 7.7 rebounds on 38.0 percent shooting from deep the past three seasons for the Jazz,” Swartz wrote. “Sexton, 26, put up 18.4 points on 40.6 percent from three last year, while Clarkson, 32, is a recent Sixth Man of the Year award winner who chipped in 16.2 points per game off the bench in 2024-25. All three would give Miami an infusion of talent while allowing the Heat to keep their main guys.”

Markkanen will make $46,394,100 next season, Sexton will make $19,175,000 and Clarkson will make $14,285,714. Sexton and Clarkson have one year left on their contracts.

A one-time All-Star, Markkanen averaged 19.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists this season while shooting 42.3% from the field, 34.6% from 3 and 87.6% from the free-throw line. He won the 2022-23 Most Improved Player of the Year Award.

Sexton averaged 18.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists while shooting 48.0% from the field, 40.6% from 3 and 86.5% from the foul line. He began his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Finally, Clarkson averaged 16.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists while shooting 40.8% from the field, 36.2% from 3 and 79.7% from the foul line. He won the 2020-21 Sixth Man of the Year Award.
