According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Miami Heat want to trade for Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo or Phoenix Suns swingman Kevin Durant this offseason.

Antetokounmpo hasn’t requested a trade from the Bucks, so he’s likely staying in Milwaukee.

Meanwhile, the Heat are in active pursuit of Durant, who will be traded by the Suns before the 2025 NBA Draft.

If Miami can’t get Antetokounmpo or Durant, they could pursue Golden State Warriors restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga

“Miami has prioritized pursuits of Giannis Antetokounmpo (if he became available this summer) and Durant (whom they’re actively trying to acquire) on their wish list ahead of Kuminga, who’s viewed as a fallback option to the two superstars,” Scotto wrote.

The Cleveland Cavaliers swept the Heat in the first round of this year’s playoffs. Hall of Famer Pat Riley needs to acquire a star to pair next to Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro after Jimmy Butler requested a trade this season and was traded to the Warriors.

The Bucks lost to the Indiana Pacers in the first round of this year’s playoffs in five games.

Milwaukee has won just one postseason series since winning the 2021 championship against the Suns in six games.

Antetokounmpo is a two-time MVP, a one-time Finals MVP, a one-time Defensive Player of the Year and a nine-time All-Star. He has career averages of 23.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks.

Antetokounmpo, 30, will make $54,126,380 next season. The Bucks signed the forward to a three-year, $175 million extension in October 2023.

Antetokounmpo is one of the top players in the NBA. He averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.2 blocks for the Bucks this season while shooting 60.1% from the field and 61.7% from the free-throw line.

Durant turns 37 in September. He averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from beyond the arc and 83.9% from the free-throw line.

The Suns missed the playoffs and play-in tournament this year.

KD has one year left on his contract. He has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns, compiling career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists.

Durant is a one-time MVP, a four-time scoring champion, a two-time champion and a two-time Finals MVP. He’s open to playing for Heat.
