The Los Angeles Lakers are adding some scoring punch to their developmental pipeline, agreeing to a two-way contract with undrafted forward Eric Dixon, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Dixon, a fifth-year senior out of Villanova, was the top-ranked player left on ESPN’s board at the end of the 2025 NBA Draft, coming in at No. 44 overall. The Athletic’s Sam Vecenie had him slightly lower at No. 67.
The 6-foot-8 lefty led all Division I scorers in 2024-25, averaging 23.3 points per game while shooting 45.1 percent from the field, 40.7 percent from deep, and 81.3 percent at the line. He added 5.1 rebounds in 35 appearances, earning third-team All-America honors along the way.
Dixon, 24, brings a heavy scoring pedigree but comes with defensive concerns. At 260 pounds, he’s expected to log minutes at center due to limited lateral mobility — a factor that may define how far he goes at the next level. What he lacks in quickness, he makes up for in floor spacing and touch.
The Lakers had an open two-way slot available, joining big men Christian Koloko and Trey Jemison. That means no cuts are required to make room for Dixon, who’ll try to prove his scoring can translate to the pro game, and that his defense won’t hold him back.
