Two NBA trade ideas have been created by the folks over at Bleacher Report involving LeBron James and his son, Bronny James.
The first trade idea, created by Connor Thoms, sends LeBron and Bronny to the Miami Heat:
Miami Heat get: LeBron James, Bronny James
Los Angeles Lakers get: Andrew Wiggins, Terry Rozier, two first-round picks
The second trade idea, created by Zach Buckley, sends LeBron and Bronny to the Golden State Warriors:
Golden State Warriors receive: LeBron James and Bronny James
Los Angeles Lakers receive: Jimmy Butler and a 2028 first-round pick swap
Why in the world are people creating trade ideas involving LeBron, who has a no-trade clause? Because the 40-year-old superstar and the Lakers are not on the same page.
The leading scorer in NBA history, LeBron wants the Lakers to trade their future draft picks to acquire win-now players this offseason so he can compete for a title next season, sources told Hoops Wire.
However, sources said Rob Pelinka wants to keep the Lakers’ salary-cap sheet as clear as possible starting next offseason, allowing the franchise to find Luka Doncic’s future partner in crime either in free agency or via trade. Los Angeles will have access to use first-round picks in 2026, 2031 and 2033 for a single deal.
After LeBron picked up his 2025-26 player option with the Lakers, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group issued the following statement to Shams Charania of ESPN:
“LeBron wants to compete for a championship. He knows the Lakers are building for the future. He understands that, but he values a realistic chance of winning it all. We are very appreciative of the partnership that we’ve had for eight years with Jeanie [Buss] and Rob [Pelinka] and consider the Lakers as a critical part of his career.
“We understand the difficulty in winning now while preparing for the future. We do want to evaluate what’s best for LeBron at this stage in his life and career. He wants to make every season he has left count, and the Lakers understand that, are supportive and want what’s best for him.”
The Warriors tried to trade for LeBron during the 2023-24 season. They would probably pursue the NBA legend again if he requests a trade from the Lakers.
Meanwhile, LeBron played for the Heat from 2010-11 to 2013-14. He won two MVPs, two rings and two Finals MVPs.
LeBron is still an elite player despite being the oldest active player in the NBA. He made the All-NBA Second Team and finished sixth in MVP voting last season.
If LeBron wants to leave the Lakers, he’ll probably want Bronny to come with him.
