Pistons Release Ron Harper Jr. From Two-Way Deal

The Detroit Pistons have released forward Ron Harper Jr. from his two-way contract, per the official NBA transaction log.

Harper, 25, went undrafted out of Rutgers in 2022 and spent most of his pro career on two-way deals with the Toronto Raptors. He was waived by Toronto in December 2023, later signing a training camp deal with the Boston Celtics, though he didn’t make the roster.

He joined Detroit in January and appeared in just one NBA game this past season. Most of his time was spent in the G League, where he averaged 16.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists across 37 combined games with the Motor City Cruise and Maine Celtics. He shot 38.6 percent from deep on more than eight attempts per game.

Detroit still has a two-way qualifying offer out to Daniss Jenkins and is reportedly signing Colby Jones to a two-way as well. If Jenkins returns, all three of the Pistons’ two-way slots will be filled.

Harper remains eligible for a two-way contract elsewhere. He is the son of longtime NBA guard Ron Harper and the older brother of Dylan Harper, who went No. 2 overall to the Spurs in last month’s draft.
