The Lakers are hiring Nets assistant Jordan Ott to Darvin Ham‘s coaching staff, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Ott just completed his third season with the Nets, the last two under head coach Steve Nash. Before that, he spent three years as a video coordinator with the Hawks.
He actually was a video coordinator in Atlanta when Ham was an assistant under current Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer.
Ott will have a more prominent voice with the Lakers, per Wojnarowski.
Prior to coming to the NBA, Ott was a video coordinator with coach Tom Izzo and Michigan State for five seasons.
According to his Nets bio:
“The McConnellsburg, Pa., native received his bachelor’s degree in sports management from Penn State in 2006 while serving as a student manager with the men’s basketball program and earned his master’s degree in athletic administration from Michigan State in 2008. He was responsible for directing Michigan State’s basketball camps in 2009 and previously spent two seasons as a graduate manager with the team. Ott also served as an assistant coach with the Dominican Republic national team in the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship in Mexico City.”
Earlier this week, the Lakers also reportedly added Hawks assistant Chris Jent, a known favorite of star LeBron James.
