The Lakers have been itching to get into the second round of Thursday’s NBA Draft and apparently, they have gotten their wish.
Per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Lakers have acquired the No. 35 overall selection from the Magic, in exchange for a future second-round pick at cash.
Lakers GM Rob Pelinka recently said he had hoped to either buy or trade for a second-rounder. He seems to have done both.
”It would be a goal for us to somehow get in the second round to get a young player that we can develop,” Pelinka said, via Jacob Rude of SB Nation. “We’ve had great success if you look at our draft history and the guys we’ve drafted and developed and we think we can do it again in 2022 if we can pull off a trade to get a pick.”
The final edition of the Hoops Wire mock draft has Gonzaga point guard Andrew Nembhard being taken at No. 35. You can check out the full mock here.
