Pelicans

The Pelicans’ summer trade for Jordan Poole drew mixed reactions at the time, but early signs point to a strong fit in New Orleans.

As Les East of NOLA.com reports, the front office was drawn to Poole’s ability to thrive both on and off the ball, as well as his obsession with the game itself.

“He won a ring,” said Zion Williamson. “He knows what it takes to get there, and having that experience on this team with him is big for us.”

Poole’s shot creation and championship background from his time in Golden State fill a need for a Pelicans team that has long searched for a consistent backcourt scorer to pair with Williamson. His leadership and work ethic have already impressed the locker room.

Meanwhile, Jim Eichenhofer of Pelicans.com profiled Joe Dumars’ first months as the team’s new lead executive.

The Hall of Famer left a comfortable position at the NBA league office to “come home” and oversee basketball operations in New Orleans — a move that’s brought instant credibility and energy to the organization.

Raptors

The Raptors locked in their young core a little further, exercising 2026–27 team options on Gradey Dick and Ja’Kobe Walter, per a team announcement.

Dick’s fourth-year option is worth $7.13 million, while Walter’s third-year option comes in at $3.81 million. Both players are expected to play rotational roles behind the team’s revamped front line, which now includes Brandon Ingram.

Dick, the 13th pick in 2023, started 54 games last season and averaged 14.4 points on 43.6% shooting.

Walter, the 19th pick in 2024, posted 8.6 points and 3.1 rebounds as a rookie and will miss the opener due to illness.

With Toronto shifting to a faster pace under new leadership, both players will need to fight for their minutes. But their shooting and spacing remain vital long-term assets.

Pacers

The Pacers have exercised their 2026–27 team options on Jarace Walker and Ben Sheppard, the team confirmed.

Walker’s fourth-year option carries a cap hit of $8.48 million, while Sheppard’s is set at $5.03 million. The move was expected, as both players have become trusted pieces off the bench under Rick Carlisle.

Walker, the No. 8 pick in 2023, averaged 6.1 points and 3.1 rebounds last season across 75 appearances.

Sheppard, selected 26th overall, contributed 5.3 points and 2.8 boards in 63 games and appeared in 21 postseason contests during Indiana’s run to the Finals.

The Pacers view both as foundational rotation players who bring energy and defensive versatility behind the starting group.
