Former Grizzlies guard Tony Allen was arrested on drug charges Wednesday in Poinsett County, Arkansas, per the Associated Press.
Police conducted a traffic stop about 50 miles outside Memphis and reportedly located a leafy substance, later identified as marijuana, on Allen.
Meanwhile, Action News 5 reported officers also searched the car. The driver, William Hatton, allegedly claimed certain marijuana-related paraphernalia belonged to him — though a cigarette box with a substance later identified as cocaine was also found inside the vehicle.
Aside from this arrest, Allen pleaded guilty in a federal health insurance fraud case back in 2023 and received three years of supervised probation and community service.
Allen was a cornerstone of the Grit and Grind era from 2010 through 2017 in Memphis. He made six All-Defense teams, and his jersey was retired by the franchise after he made the playoffs in six of his seven Grizzlies seasons.
