Pistons

Cade Cunningham has been closing games with force.

He’s piled up a league-best 86 fourth-quarter points during Detroit’s 6-2 start, including 19 in the final frame of each of the last two — the latest being a 114–103 win over Utah on Wednesday.

“We’re just now turning the corner as far as just not being losers,” Cunningham said, via Hunter Patterson of The Athletic. “We were losers for a little stint in the NBA. But we all have winning habits, winning mentalities.”

Coach J.B. Bickerstaff added his own thoughts.

“He’s phenomenal,” the Pistons coach said. “Everything you want in a No. 1 guy, Cade is it.”

Magic

Orlando wants to reset at home. The Magic will play seven of their next nine in Florida after a 3-5 start.

“We’ve just got to play some better basketball,” Jalen Suggs told Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel. “Find our groove, find our swag.”

Heat

A two-alarm fire broke out early Thursday morning at Heat coach Erik Spoelstra’s Miami-Dade home, per the Miami Herald.

The Heat arrived back from Denver around 5 a.m. ET, roughly 25 minutes after firefighters were dispatched.

Spoelstra’s home sits on a 43,000-square-foot lot and sold for $6.6 million in 2023.

No injuries were reported, but crews battled the blaze for more than four hours.

— Bam Adebayo exited Wednesday’s loss to Denver with a left foot injury. He’ll undergo an MRI today, per Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald. “We’ll figure it out,” Adebayo said.
