Bulls
Coby White has yet to appear this season due to a right calf strain, but Chicago expects him back soon. Coach Billy Donovan indicated that White’s return should be smooth, too.
“I feel pretty good about him coming back,” Donovan said, via Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times. “He’s always been a team guy. The rhythm for him individually, he’s going to work through that, and in time it will get better, but in terms of him seamlessly coming back, I don’t worry about the chemistry at all. He plays the right way.”
White was assigned to the G League’s Windy City Bulls on Monday to get in some practice work, per K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network.
Meanwhile, Saturday marked Isaac Okoro’s first official game against the Cavaliers since the offseason trade that sent him to Chicago. He finished with 19 points, four rebounds and three assists in 33 minutes.
“I had a wonderful five years in Cleveland,” Okoro said. “They treat their players right. Coaches, front-office staff. I love all these guys. But once tip goes up, it’s Bulls vs. Cavs.”
Bucks
The Bucks couldn’t close late in a 122-115 home loss to Houston on Sunday. Giannis Antetokounmpo totaled 37 points, eight rebounds and three assists but struggled down the stretch, as noted by The Athletic’s Eric Nehm.
“We didn’t execute as well,” Antetokounmpo said. “They were moving the ball, finding the open man. They were able to make some shots and we did the complete opposite.”
Antetokounmpo is listed as probable for tonight’s game against Dallas.
Pistons
Detroit has won six straight and goes for seven in a row tonight against the hapless Wizards. The Pistons edged Philadelphia 111-108 on Sunday, powered by Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren.
Cunningham is averaging 29.2 points and 11.2 assists during the streak. Duren — who is headed toward restricted free agency — is averaging 23.5 points and 13.5 rebounds over that span.
“He’s been dominant,” coach J.B. Bickerstaff said, via ESPN’s Tim Bontemps. “The way he helps us protect the rim, the job he does on the boards, the threat that he is in the pick-and-roll, he’s another guy who can facilitate and playmake, and then he’s an elite communicator. He was great again Sunday.”
