The Lakers finally got LeBron James back on the floor, and for the first time this season, LeBron was in uniform and doing LeBron things.
Not all at once, of course.
The opening quarter vs. the visiting Jazz felt more like a warmup lap, a chance for LeBron to get a feel for the pace after missing the first 14 games.
The second quarter looked a whole lot more like the guy we know. James started to settle in, knocked down a pair of threes, and scored seven points before halftime.
And naturally, he couldn’t just return without rewriting more of the record book.
With those triples, James passed Reggie Miller for fifth all-time in career 3-pointers (2,561).
Not bad for a guy who spent his early years being told shooting was the “one hole” in his game.
He also kept alive his outrageous streak of scoring at least 10 points (1,291 straight), a run that feels impossible for anyone not named LeBron.
At age 40, in a NBA-record Year 23, he’s still sliding past Hall of Famers on the all-time lists like it’s nothing.
And while he looked understandably rusty early, the rhythm came back quickly. More milestones are undoubtedly coming.
