Even with minority owner Mark Cuban publicly downplaying the idea, multiple reports suggest the Mavericks will at least listen on Anthony Davis ahead of the February trade deadline.

Marc Stein of the Stein Line reported that Dallas plans to pick up the phone on “any” incoming interest.

Whether that turns into anything real will depend on the offers, especially with Davis again battling injuries and currently sidelined by a calf strain.

Team sources told Christian Clark of The Athletic the Mavericks want to stay flexible and open to anything that strengthens the roster around rookie forward Cooper Flagg.

For now, Dallas remains in evaluation mode as it studies all options for the months ahead.

Gafford viewed as movable: Center Daniel Gafford is regarded around the league as a player who would draw interest if Dallas made him available.

He has looked sharper by the week after returning from an early-season ankle issue, averaging 13 points, nearly eight boards and more than two blocks over his last four games.

Kyrie stays, for now: Stein also reported the Mavericks have no intention of actively putting Kyrie Irving on the market. They want to keep the nine-time All-Star, who is recovering from a torn ACL.

But Stein noted the Mavs are short on future first-round picks, and a strong offer could force the conversation.

Lively out of talks: Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report suggested Dallas is unlikely to move players whose trade value is depressed by injuries.

Fischer added he does not expect Dereck Lively II to be part of any trade discussions at this stage.

Front office update: Both Stein and Clark reported that team owner Patrick Dumont is in no hurry to hire a new head of basketball operations after parting ways with Nico Harrison.

One source told Clark that qualifications will drive the decision, not a timetable.

The organization is looking for “calmness and stability” in its next lead voice. Matt Riccardi and Michael Finley continue to run the front office in the interim.
