The Trail Blazers are waiving veteran guard Eric Bledsoe ahead of the guarantee date for his contract, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Bledsoe, 32, is 6-foot-1 and was acquired by the Blazers in a February trade with the Clippers, a deal that sent Robert Covington and Norman Powell to LA. Bledsoe did not appear in a game with Portland.
Prior to the trade, he appeared in 54 games with the Clippers, averaging 9.9 points, 4.2 assists and 3.4 rebounds. He has also spent time with the Suns, Bucks and Pelicans during his 13-year career.
Bledsoe’s deal was set to become guaranteed on July 10. He is expected to draw interest from several teams as a free agent, per Charania.
As it stands, Damian Lillard, Anfernee Simons and rookie Shaedon Sharpe are expected to be the key players in Portland’s backcourt rotation.
