A fresh trade proposal has Anthony Davis heading home to Chicago. Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley cooked up the idea, sending the Mavericks star to the Bulls in a deal that looks like this:

Bulls get: Anthony Davis
Mavs get: Coby White, Kevin Huerter, Zach Collins, a 2030 first-rounder (top-three protected) and a 2031 pick swap.

Dallas is expected to explore the Davis market after firing GM Nico Harrison, per multiple reports. Davis does not have a no-trade clause and is a Chicago native, which only fuels the speculation.

“Returning to his hometown of Chicago would be both a fun narrative and maybe a better basketball story,” Buckley wrote, noting Davis’ potential fit next to Nikola Vucevic and what his presence could do for Josh Giddey and young wing Matas Buzelis.

The Mavericks are 6-15 and need to decide whether to pivot. The Bulls are 9-10 and looking for a true franchise anchor.

Davis is making $54.1 million this season with a player option coming in 2027–28 worth $62.8 million.

For now, Dallas is expected to work closely with Davis’ camp, led by Klutch Sports’ Rich Paul, to determine whether an in-season trade makes sense.

Davis has appeared in just 15 games for the Mavericks since arriving in the Luka Doncic blockbuster.

He’s averaging 19.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and nearly two blocks per game in Dallas, though he has played only six times this year because of a calf issue.

Interested teams reportedly want Davis to trim down and regain some of his mobility. But even with the injuries, he remains a highly valued big man, with career averages of 24.1 points and 10.7 rebounds across stops in New Orleans, Los Angeles and Dallas.

  1. Why are you publishing an article about a fantasy trade in some reporter’s head? If no one from either of the teams involved is discussing it, it’s not a “trade proposal” – it’s someone’s fantasy. The bar for sports journalism has always been low – it’s now somewhere in the basement.
