LeBron James has seen every kind of superstar across 20-plus seasons, so when he lights up over an opponent, people listen.
On the latest Mind the Game episode, Steve Nash asked him a simple but loaded question. Namely, is Nikola Jokic the best offensive player James has ever played against?
“Wow, that’s a tough question,” LeBron said before eventually putting it out there.
“There has not been a more dominant, complete player that I’ve played against,” LeBron said. “From the passing, to the shooting, to the rebounding, to the attention. There is nothing he cannot do on the offensive end. Nothing.”
Nash teed it up by listing Jokic’s toolbox — the playmaking, the scoring levels, the physicality, the ability to initiate offense like a guard.
LeBron agreed and added that teams can’t really scheme him.
“You try to double him he’s gonna make you pay,” James said. “You play him single coverage he’s gonna make you pay. This s— is not normal.”
Jokic suited up Saturday despite a left wrist sprain and put up another Jokic night in Phoenix. Twenty-six points, 10 assists, nine boards and a perfect shooting night from the field, including two-for-two from deep.
The Nuggets won and Jokic made it look routine, which is exactly what LeBron was talking about.
