The Warriors have been among the league’s most aggressive teams when it comes to gathering trade intel, according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.

Multiple sources told Siegel that Golden State has been actively canvassing the market to determine which players are (and aren’t) realistically available as the season moves closer to the Feb. 5 trade deadline. The focus, for now, remains on upgrading the frontcourt.

Per Siegel, the Warriors are in the market for an athletic forward and additional size, ideally a big man who can rebound and protect the rim. Those areas have been persistent issues, and they aren’t strengths of the current options, including Al Horford and Quinten Post.

Brooklyn center Nic Claxton has been linked to Golden State by several reporters in recent weeks, but Siegel noted that the Warriors would prefer a target whose contract lands closer to $15 million annually. That financial preference could narrow the pool of viable options, even as interest remains broad.

Siegel added that Golden State has already engaged in trade discussions with the Nets, Pelicans and Bulls, though specific players were not identified.

Regardless, the Warriors appear to be gathering information rather than forcing a move. But the groundwork is clearly being laid.
