The Hawks are moving on from Trae Young.

Atlanta has agreed to trade the four-time All-Star guard to the Wizards in exchange for CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert, sources tell ESPN’s Shams Charania. The deal ends Young’s run as the face of the Hawks and sends the 27-year-old to his preferred destination in Washington.

For the Wizards, it’s a franchise-shaping move. Top executives Michael Winger and Will Dawkins have been searching for a true centerpiece to accelerate the team’s rebuild, and Young gives them an elite playmaker to anchor a young roster moving forward.

From Atlanta’s side, the deal brings immediate roster help and long-term flexibility. McCollum adds veteran stability in the backcourt, while Kispert gives the Hawks a reliable shooter on the wing.

Just as importantly, moving Young clears significant future salary, positioning the Hawks to chase a major contract in the coming months.

Per Charania, that financial flexibility could come into play quickly, with Mavericks star Anthony Davis viewed as a prime in-season trade target.

More details are expected as the deal is finalized.
