The Cavaliers intend to waive two-way wing Luke Travers following the news of their trade of De’Andre Hunter to the Kings, per Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.

In return for Hunter, the Cavs will receive guard Dennis Schroder and guard/forward Keon Ellis. (Big man Dario Saric is headed from Sacramento to the Bulls as part of the deal.)

Travers, 24, is 6-foot-6 and has appeared in a total of 24 games with Cleveland over two seasons — 12 last season and 12 in this one. He carries NBA career averages of 1.7 points and 1.8 rebounds, spending most of his time as a key member of the G League’s Cleveland Charge.

Travers was originally selected by the Cavs in the second round of the 2022 NBA Draft (No. 58 overall). He signed his first two-way deal with Cleveland in August 2024, then agreed to another in July of this past offseason.

The Cavs also have a looming decision on two-way forward Nae’Qwan Tomlin, who is about to reach the 50-game threshold of his own deal. The overriding speculation is that the Cavs will soon sign Tomlin to a standard deal.
