Thunder

Oklahoma City is expected to keep its powder dry.

Most signs point to the Thunder avoiding any major deadline shake-up, with Ousmane Dieng remaining the most likely player to be moved if they do act. Even then, the expectation is something modest.

Rylan Stiles of SI.com notes the Thunder could use frontcourt insurance, particularly with Isaiah Hartenstein in and out of the lineup. Any move would likely focus on depth rather than star power.

Among the names floated as attainable options are Kevin Love, Nick Richards, Bobby Portis, and Jock Landale, all of whom could theoretically be acquired using second-round picks, an area where OKC is well-stocked.

Stiles also points to Day’Ron Sharpe as a possible fit, noting his per-minute production and contractual flexibility.

A bigger swing, such as Trey Murphy III, would make sense stylistically, but the cost is expected to be prohibitive in-season.

Timberwolves

Jaden McDaniels keeps reminding everyone why Minnesota values him so highly, writes Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.

His name has surfaced in Giannis Antetokounmpo chatter, but McDaniels continues to produce at a career-best level, posting highs in scoring, playmaking, and shooting efficiency while staying healthy.

“He’s my favorite player in the league,” Anthony Edwards said. “I love everything about Jaden.”

Coach Chris Finch echoed that sentiment, praising McDaniels’ work habits.

Any Giannis pursuit would likely require McDaniels’ inclusion, but if no deal materializes, Minnesota has the version of him it needs right now.

Jazz

Utah is also expected to stand pat.

Lauri Markkanen remains firmly part of the Jazz’s long-term plans unless a godfather offer appears, per Andy Larsen of the Salt Laker Tribune.

Meanwhile, Jusuf Nurkic has played well enough that Utah is exploring fit rather than exit.

Love and Kyle Anderson could still move, and the Jazz may use their flexibility to absorb unwanted contracts.

Larsen mentions D’Angelo Russell and Maxi Kleber as names that could come with draft compensation attached.
