The Grizzlies are expected to move on from Eric Gordon.
Memphis is likely to waive the veteran guard after acquiring him from the 76ers in what was essentially a salary-dump move, sources tell Yahoo Sports.
Gordon appeared in just six games this season and was never part of the Grizzlies’ on-court plans.
Now 37, Gordon is on a minimum deal that carries only a $2.3 million cap hit, making him easy to move on from. Once released, he’ll be free to sign with any team except Philadelphia.
This feels less like a basketball decision and more like a bookkeeping one. Gordon’s résumé speaks for itself — 18 NBA seasons, nearly a thousand games, and a long run as a reliable scorer and floor-spacer.
But those days are mostly in the rearview mirror. He hasn’t been a regular rotation piece in a couple of years, and it’s unclear how much interest he’ll draw this time around.
