Restricted free agent shooting guard Joe Wieskamp has agreed to return to the Spurs on a two-yeafr, $4.4 million contract, agents Kyle McAlarney and Mark Bartelstein told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Wieskamp, 23, is 6-foot-6 and appeared in 29 games last season, averaging 2.1 points, after the Spurs selected him with the No. 41 overall pick of the 2021 NBA Draft.
He actually spent most of last season on a two-way deal, but signed a standard deal in March. He then missed summer league with an ankle sprain, and his future in San Antonio was starting to seem in doubt.
This season, he will be earning more than the minimum — though it is not known if the deal is guaranteed, or if it is, for how long. Ideally, Wieskamp will offer the Spurs some outside shooting in reserve.
