Spurs’ Luke Kornet calls on Hawks to cancel ‘Magic City Night’

San Antonio Spurs center Luke Kornet is urging the Atlanta Hawks to reconsider an upcoming “Magic City Night” promotion.

Magic City is a well-known Atlanta strip club.

Kornet said the event sends the wrong message.

“The NBA should desire to protect and esteem women, many of whom work diligently every day to make this the best basketball league in the world,” Kornet said. “We should promote an atmosphere that is protective and respectful of the daughters, wives, sisters, mothers and partners that we know and love.”

He added that allowing the promotion to proceed “would reflect poorly on us as an NBA community.”

The Hawks have not publicly responded.
