Nikola Jokic has built his career with the Denver Nuggets, and he would like to keep it that way.
Speaking recently on the Serbian basketball podcast X’s and O’s Chat, Jokic was asked whether he could ever envision himself playing for another NBA franchise.
His answer was simple.
“I wouldn’t like to imagine that,” Jokic said, via RealGM. “Even if we never win anything else after this, an organic title means more to me than anything.”
Jokic has spent his entire career in Denver after being selected by the Nuggets in the second round of the 2014 draft. Along the way, he has become one of the most accomplished players in franchise history.
But for Jokic, the connection goes far beyond basketball.
“I really found peace here,” he said. “My two kids were born here. Everyone’s here. Peace, home. I found my life here and I like life here.”
Jokic added that the team has built something meaningful together.
“We built something here, together as a team,” he said.
The Nuggets have been contenders for several seasons with Jokic leading the way, and the superstar center said he feels no urge to change teams.
He also indicated he does not see himself leaving the NBA to play professionally in Europe, despite his deep respect for the game overseas.
