The Golden State Warriors will be without Stephen Curry a little while longer.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania and Anthony Slater, Curry is expected to miss at least 10 more days as he continues recovering from patellofemoral pain syndrome in his right knee, commonly known as runner’s knee.
Curry has already missed 15 straight games and will sit out at least five more before being reevaluated. He has started on-court work and is hoping to ramp up his workouts in the coming days.
The timing has been difficult for Golden State. The Warriors are 23-16 when Curry plays this season, but just 9-17 without him, as relayed by ESPN’s Bobby Marks.
Golden State currently sits 32-33 and ninth in the Western Conference.
Coach Steve Kerr acknowledged the challenge after Tuesday’s 130-124 overtime loss to the Chicago Bulls.
“Both very winnable games,” Kerr said. “Had the lead late tonight — obviously one we should have had — but this is how the NBA is, especially when you’re beaten up.”
Newly acquired center Kristaps Porzingis said the team is eager to get Curry back.
“I want to play with Steph,” he said. “Who doesn’t?”
