Rudy Gobert has spent plenty of time around elite players. What stands out about Victor Wembanyama, he says, is the little things.
The Minnesota Timberwolves center recently shared a story that offered a glimpse into how the young San Antonio Spurs star approaches improvement.
“A few days ago he asked me what kind of filter I have in my house for water,” Gobert told Mark Medina of RG.org.
It may sound like a small detail. Gobert said it actually says plenty about how seriously Wembanyama takes his craft.
“Those are things that not a lot of 22-year-olds are asking,” Gobert said. “It shows how dedicated he is to every aspect of greatness.”
Gobert and Wembanyama have grown close through their shared ties to France, with Gobert often serving as a sounding board for the younger big man.
And based on stories like that one, Wembanyama is leaving little to chance in his pursuit of becoming one of the NBA’s best.
