Nikola Djurisic is heading home.
The former Hawks wing has signed a multiyear deal with Crvena Zvezda through the 2027-28 season, the Serbian club announced. The move had been expected after Atlanta waived him last month.
There’s a twist, though.
Djurisic won’t join Crvena Zvezda right away. He’s being loaned to KK Mega Basket, a familiar stop. That’s where he played from 2020 to 2024 before coming stateside.
The 43rd overall pick in the 2024 draft, Djurisic was always a bit of a long-term project. He spent last season with the College Park Skyhawks in the G League and later signed a three-year deal with Atlanta. Only the first year was guaranteed.
That mattered.
When the Hawks needed a roster spot in February, Djurisic became the odd man out as the team promoted Caleb Houstan.
He never appeared in an NBA game, spending most of the year in the G League. In 21 appearances, he averaged 9.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists.
Now comes a reset.
Back home. More minutes. And a chance to build from there.
