The Kings have officially waived shooting guard DJ Steward, according to James Ham of The Kings Beat.
Steward, 20, is 6-foot-1 and was just signed to a deal last week, which included a partial guarantee, as relayed by Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee.
With that in mind, it’s likely that the Kings are hoping Steward will return to the franchise to play for the G League affiliate in Stockton if he doesn’t latch on with someone else.
He went undrafted out of Duke in 2021, but then signed a training camp deal with Sacramento, before being waived in October. He eventually signed with the Stocton Kings, averaging 14.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists.
A former McDonald’s All-American, Steward spent just one season at Duke.
