Coach Doc Rivers didn’t offer much when asked about the Bucks moving on from Cam Thomas.
“There are things that we don’t need to talk about,” Rivers said of the decision to waive Thomas, via The Athletic. “That’s not anybody’s business. Like I said before, that’s where as a coach, you have to make decisions on what’s the best thing for the team at that time.”
Rivers did acknowledge the decision wasn’t easy, calling it “a tough one,” and noting Thomas had played well during his brief stint with the team.
But the Bucks’ situation has shifted.
Milwaukee is considerably outside the playoff picture, and roster priorities have changed since Thomas was signed. That, more than anything, appears to have driven the move.
Thomas appeared in 18 games with the Bucks, averaging 10.7 points while shooting 43.1 percent from the field. He has played 42 total games this season between Milwaukee and the Nets, averaging 13.5 points.
The 24-year-old can sign with another team, though he would not be eligible for the playoffs.
