Potential trade destinations for Ja Morant if Grizzlies consider move

This isn’t a report. Not yet, anyway.

But it’s at least worth thinking about.

Ja Morant has dealt with a little bit of everything this season — suspension, injuries, inconsistency. He’s currently sidelined with an elbow issue, and when he has played, it hasn’t always looked like peak Ja.

Still, when he’s right? There aren’t many like him. Electric. Explosive. Can take over a game in a hurry.

So if the Grizzlies ever decide to explore something bigger, these are a few teams that would make sense. Let’s examine.

Milwaukee Bucks

There was already some reported interest here before the deadline.

If Giannis Antetokounmpo stays put, the Bucks could revisit the idea of adding another star. Morant would give them a dynamic, downhill playmaker to reshape the offense.

It would take a lot. But Milwaukee has shown it’s willing to swing.

Miami Heat

This one almost writes itself.

If a star becomes available, Miami calls. That’s been the pattern for years.

Morant would give the Heat a different kind of engine offensively — speed, pressure, rim attacks. Pair that with their defensive identity, and it gets interesting fast.

Houston Rockets

The Rockets have the assets. That’s the headline.

They were previously linked to Morant, though reports suggested they weren’t interested at the time. Still, things change. Especially for a team that’s shown a willingness to go big, particularly with Kevin Durant in the picture.

Never say never.

Sacramento Kings

This might be the cleanest fit.

Sacramento has been searching for stability at point guard since moving on from De’Aaron Fox and, before that, Tyrese Haliburton.

Morant has been linked to the Kings more than most teams, and it makes sense. He fills a need. He gives them a face. He gives them juice.

If Sacramento is serious about getting back into the mix, this is the type of swing that does it.

Minnesota Timberwolves

This one keeps popping up. and you can see why.

A backcourt of Morant and Anthony Edwards would be about as explosive as it gets. Minnesota has been knocking on the door the past couple years.

If they fall short again? You could see them thinking bigger.

The Bottom Line

There’s no indication a move is coming.

But the NBA moves fast. And when a player with Morant’s talent level even feels like a possibility, teams start thinking about it.

These are the kinds of situations that can change quickly, and if they do, there won’t be a shortage of interest.
