Draymond Green calls out Kings as NBA reviews late-game foul

The NBA is reviewing a late-game sequence involving the Sacramento Kings after their loss to the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

With Sacramento holding a one-point lead and just over three minutes remaining, Kings forward Doug McDermott intentionally fouled Seth Curry, sending him to the free-throw line while Golden State was already in the bonus.

Curry, an 86.4 percent career free-throw shooter, converted the opportunity, and the Warriors went on to secure a 110-105 victory.

After the game, Draymond Green criticized the play, suggesting it reflected a broader issue with tanking around the league.

“I saw a team tonight foul Seth Curry with three minutes to go in a game for no reason. In the penalty,” Green said.

Asked about how the league should handle those situations, Green advocated for stronger enforcement.

“I get fined when I do wrong. Just fine the hell out of people. We love taking money from players. Keep fining the teams,” he said. “We all know everybody tanking. But you’ve seen two fines… If my math serves me correctly that’s 10 that ain’t been fined.”

Green was referencing fines issued earlier this season to the Utah Jazz and Indiana Pacers for what the league deemed “overt” tanking behavior.

According to Charania, the Kings have explained the play by saying head coach Doug Christie was attempting to use a timeout before losing it at the three-minute mark and didn’t realize the Warriors were already in the bonus.

The league has not yet announced whether any discipline will result from its review.
