Pistons PR staff earns NBA’s top media relations honor

The Pistons are getting recognized off the court.

Detroit’s basketball communications staff has been named the winner of the 2025-26 Brian McIntyre Media Relations Award, the Professional Basketball Writers Association announced.

The award is given annually to the NBA PR group that best represents professionalism and cooperation with the media.

Detroit’s group is led by chief communications officer Kevin Grigg, along with Cletus Lewis, Michael Horan, Corey Moore and Savannah Strawter.

According to the PBWA, that group — working alongside head coach J.B. Bickerstaff — has consistently made access easy for reporters, helping generate thorough and accurate coverage of the team.

“The Pistons’ resurgence has put this franchise back in the national spotlight,” PBWA president Howard Beck said. “If anything, this award feels overdue.”

The Wizards finished second in the voting, with the Hawks, Magic and Rockets also named finalists.

It marks the first time the Pistons have taken home the honor, which dates back to the 2006-07 season and is named after longtime NBA PR director Brian McIntyre.

The PBWA also hands out annual awards to a coach and player for media cooperation, recognizing those who help tell the story of the league.

In Detroit’s case, that story just got a little easier to cover.
