Phil Jackson offers alternative to Steve Kerr’s 3-point line idea

If getting rid of the three-point line feels extreme, legendary coach Phil Jackson has another idea.

And he’s apparently been pushing it for a while.

“15 years I’ve been asking the NBA rules committee to widen the court apron,” Jackson wrote in a tweet, responding to a tweet from NBA Base. “Corner shot becomes 23.9.”

The comment comes after Steve Kerr suggested he would even consider eliminating the three-point line altogether, arguing the modern game has become too predictable.

Jackson’s solution goes the other direction.

Instead of removing the three, he’d make it consistent.

Right now, corner threes are shorter than above-the-break attempts, which has helped fuel the league’s heavy reliance on that shot.

Widening the floor would eliminate that advantage and, in theory, reshape how offenses operate.
