Grizzlies expected to find wider trade market for Ja Morant this summer

The market for Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant may look a little different this time around.

After finding limited outside interest ahead of the trade deadline, Memphis is expected to revisit trade talks this summer, with a belief around the league that a broader market could develop, according to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.

That’s a shift from February, when Memphis explored the idea and didn’t get much traction. Now, there are what Fischer describes as “predictive murmurs” that more teams could enter the mix in the coming weeks.

One team that does not appear to be in that mix is Utah. League sources told Fischer that the Jazz are not currently viewed as a landing spot, in part because of the emergence of young guard Keyonte George, who has taken on a larger role in their backcourt.

So while nothing is imminent, the expectation is that Memphis will again test the waters on Morant. This time, there may be more teams willing to listen.
