The coaching carousel is picking up speed. Familiar names are back in the mix. Namely, Billy Donovan and Tom Thibodeau.
For starters, Donovan is once again being linked to multiple openings following Orlando’s expected coaching change, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.
Donovan has long been viewed as a potential fit for the Magic, though there is no clarity yet on whether mutual interest exists this time around.
There is history there.
Donovan famously backed out of a deal with Orlando in 2007, a move that reshaped multiple coaching paths across the league.
He’s not alone in seeking a return.
League sources tell Amick that Tom Thibodeau is also interested in getting back on the sidelines, including the possibility of a reunion with the Bulls following their front office shakeup.
These jobs are limited. The candidates are not. And as always, timing and fit will decide everything.
