Pelicans narrowing coaching finalists as search enters next phase

The Pelicans are getting closer to a decision. We think.

New Orleans has identified a group of finalists in its coaching search, including Darvin Ham, Steve Hetzel, Sean Sweeney and Rajon Rondo, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.

The process is ongoing, but the focus is tightening.

Ham brings prior head coaching experience. Sweeney and Hetzel are respected assistants. Rondo offers a different profile, with strong player credibility and a growing coaching presence.

There is also a potential wild card.

Jamahl Mosley could emerge as a candidate following his departure from Orlando, though it remains unclear if he will be added to the mix.

The Pelicans have options. Now comes the hard part. Choosing the right one.
