The Cavaliers got what they needed in Game 3.
They made shots late, including a big one from James Harden, and trimmed the series deficit against the Pistons to 2-1.
One sequence drew attention.
With about 30 seconds left in a one-point game, Harden created space with a sidestep and drilled a three over Tobias Harris. Harris made contact and Harden went down after the release. No foul was called on the floor.
The NBA reviewed the play in its Last Two Minute Report and sided with the officials.
According to the report, Harris jumped to contest but “would otherwise avoid making contact if not for Harden extending forward,” ruling the no-call correct.
It’s the type of play that often gets debated, especially in a close game. In this case, it didn’t change the outcome. The shot counted, the Cavs held on, and the league said the whistle, or lack of one, was handled properly.
The report also indicated there were no missed calls in the closing moments.
