Former NBA guard and constant Sixth Man of the Year candidate Jamal Crawford has found a new role in hoops.
That would be serving as a studio analyst for TNT broadcasts, according to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post.
Crawford has long been one of basketball’s voice of reason, even as a player, offering insights and perspective on the general happenings around the league. He has also been a proponent of the NBA returning to Seattle on social media.
Per Marchand, Crawford will replace Dwyane Wade on TNT’s Tuesday night studio team, which also features Shaquille O’Neal, Candace Parker and host Adam Lefkoe.
Crawford, 42, was originally selected by the Cavaliers out of Michigan with the No. 8 overall in the 2000 NBA Draft. He was immediately traded to the Bulls (with cash, for Chris Mihm).
Along with the Bulls, Crawford spent time with the Knicks, Warriors, Hawks, Trail Blazers, Clippers, Timberwolves, Suns and Nets. His final NBA season came in 2019-20, and he posted career averages of 14.6 points and 41 percent shooting.
“TNT’s NBA studio jobs are very sought after as Inside the NBA is considered by many to be the best pre- and post-game show in sports media history. It features Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, O’Neal and host Ernie Johnson. That group does the biggest events, as well as Thursdays during TNT’s regular season coverage.”
