The Nuggets and GM Calvin Booth have agreed to a multiyear contract extension, per Mike Singer of the Denver Post.
Booth, 46, took over as Nuggets head of basketball operations after Tim Connelly left for the Timberwolves during the offseason. Before that, he served as assistant GM with the Nuggets, as well as in the front office with the Timberwolves and the Pelicans.
Per Singer, the new contract extends Booth through the 2024-25 season.
“He’s got a great mind, and I think he’s open to suggestions but he showed me that he can make ruthless decisions when he needs to,” Nuggets owner Josh Kroenke said of Booth in June, via Singer.
Booth has already pulled off one notable trade, acquiring Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Ish Smith from the Wizards in exchange for Monte Morris and Will Barton back in June.
That’s not all.
“After drafting rookies Christian Braun and Peyton Watson, Booth added vets DeAndre Jordan and defensive chess piece Bruce Brown in free agency,” Singer wrote.
Booth spent 10 seasons as a center in the NBA (1999-2009). That included stints with the Wizards, 76ers, Bucks, Kings, SuperSonics and Timberwolves, as well as several with the Mavericks.
